The Southwest Salad is my all-time favorite salad (from Walmart). If you need a quick fresh salad with tasty flavors, this is the one. It “packs a kick” with jalapenos in the pico de gallo, the dressing, and the crunchy topping.
The salad is crisp with both iceberg and romaine lettuce in it. Sprinkled throughout are grated carrots and red cabbage. There is a good amount of grilled chicken breast heaped on top.
They include three cheeses in their nacho cheese blend – Cheddar, Colby, and Monterey jack. All are flavored with nacho taco seasoning.
Pico de gallo is included in a cup. It uses the standard ingredients: tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and jalapeno peppers.
The crunchy topping is fried tortilla strips, red pepper, and jalapenos. They’re all yummy but that fried jalapeno gives you a surprising jolt.
Now the creamy Southwest Chipotle Ranch Dressing makes it all come together. It has a smoky flavor, buttermilk, garlic, onion, and a big kick from the chipotle peppers. I wish they sold this dressing by the bottle because it would perk up any salad.
Marketside™ Southwest Salad (1 lb, 1.25 oz) (IN STORES ONLY) $3.98
This is a big salad so it’s a good thing it comes with TWO forks. It’s great for a lunch salad that “wakes you up” at work. And it would go perfectly with a Mexican dinner.
I like to mix the salad all together in another bowl and take it to an event. People are surprised and impressed by the flavors.
The Southwest Salad has just the right amount of heat, texture, crunch, and flavor. It’s my favorite!
See you at Walmart!
