This is a beautiful way to give your hair a stylish braided look. It is SUPER easy to make and to wrap around a ponytail.
My girls are always trying new looks and styles in their hair. So they love this beaded rope. It turns a regular ponytail into something more fashionable and fun. The beads add color to it. And the criss crosses make it look like the ponytail is braided.
If you have long hair you can easily extend it so the beads are further apart.
It’s a great way to keep a ponytail tamed if you’re playing a sport. In hot weather it keeps it off your neck. I’m sure a French braid could be woven through the loops as well.
Of course, you can change the type of rope, the beads, and elements:
- For an adult or nighttime look – use black suede and metal beads.
- For a southwest look – use brown suede with turquoise beads, and attach delicate thin feathers to the bottom.
- For a more feminine look – use ribbon instead of the suede and glue flowers to the beads.
There are so many possibilities once you know how to make it.
For these hair braid ropes, you’ll only need suede trim and beads.
Beadsmith™ Ultra Micro-Fiber Suede Faux Leather – White .118” x 9’ $4.25 + $2.00 shipping
Cousin™ Fun Pack Acrylic Pony Beads – Assorted Deco (125 ct) $2.99 order site to store
I chose white suede to see it easily in the hair and so the focus is on the colorful beads. But you can change it up and use colored suede to wrap it.
We loved these deco beads because of their design and rainbow colors.
Pony beads have a larger hole – so they are a good place to start. If you choose different beads, make sure the hole is large enough to get both pieces of suede through.
So, try making hair braid ropes for you and your kids!
Once you make one, you’ll see how easy it is. And you can make them for different outfits or occasions.
