I like facial moisturizers, they are a great way to treat your face. My face often needs some TLC (tender loving care). My skin gets pretty dry during the winter. And the summer sun also takes a toll on it. I should start treating my face to softness every day, not just when it feels dry.
Walmart has “Equate” versions of many products. These Equate™ products compare to brand name moisturizers like Cetaphil™, Aveeno™, and Olay™.
So, this is what I look for in a moisturizer:
- It needs to feel good on my skin. No burning or greasiness. It should absorb and feel smooth and comfortable.
- It has to dry quickly. I understand some products take a little fanning to dry. But, I don’t want it on my pillow or sheets when I wake up.
- It needs to leave a matte finish. I don’t want my foundation to slide around on top of it or drip off.
- The smell has to be either faintly pleasant or neutral. I don’t want to smell like an air freshener or a medicine cabinet.
What did we think? Here’s our breakdown for these four moisturizers.
Equate™ Beauty Naturally Beaming Daily Moisturizer (Soy Based Complex with Sunscreen, SPF 15) 4 fl. oz. $9.47
This pump “natural” moisturizer is for all skin types (especially sensitive). It’s the most expensive of the four. This moisturizer was thick and it had the best pleasant/neutral scent.
It felt smooth going on. It took a while, but it did dry enough to put foundation on. It wasn’t greasy but it did not give me a matte finish. This moisturizer may help you with uneven skin tone. Surprisingly, it’s the only one that doesn’t mention if it clogs pores.
Equate™ Beauty All-Day Moisturizing Lotion (Normal, with Sunscreen, SPF 15), 6 fl. oz. $4.64
This all-day moisturizer is for normal skin. It was very thick and applied easily. I really liked how it absorbed quickly into our skin and left a soft matte finish. Woo Hoo!
Our skin felt very smooth. The smell was neutral but a tiny bit like sunscreen. It was nice though, not annoying. Another good point about it is that it’s made with vitamins B5, E, and C.
Equate™ Beauty Ultra-Hydrating Beauty Lotion (Original Formula), 6 fl. oz. $3.48
This ultra-hydrating moisturizer is for dry skin and is the least expensive. The lotion also dried quickly and left a smooth matte finish. It felt very good on my skin.
The pink moisturizer has a faint pleasant smell that is similar to baby lotion. It was nice and thick but went on easily. It’s too bad it’s the only one that isn’t made with sunscreen. I do like that it hydrates and replenishes skin.
Equate™ Beauty Daily Facial Moisturizer (with Sunscreen, SPF 15), 4 fl. oz. $7.82
This pump daily moisturizer is for all skin types. This was our least favorite of the four we tried. Sorry. Our biggest issue is that it took a long time to semi-dry. My fingers were even greasy looking after applying it. It was the thinnest in consistency. And it made my face look shiny.
Which moisturizer is best for you? Will you use it for sun protection? Do you need help with skin tone or wrinkles? Remember, when your skin feels dry – don’t use harsh peels, masks, or toners.
So, treat your skin to a facial moisturizer. The size for these products is nice. You can just toss them in your purse or gym bag and moisturize throughout the day.
And, of course, the best way to hydrate your skin is to drink lots of water. It will help your skin stay young looking.
See you at Walmart!
