There are only a handful of ingredients used to make pecan tarts. You expect a nice crust, fresh pecans, and a brown sugar goodness filling. They usually taste like a mini pecan pie.
When I was a kid, I usually avoided any type of sweet that had pecans in it. So, if a brownie had pecans in it, I’d pick out and throw away the pecans (gasp!).
As I grew older, I cautiously introduced new foods. And to my surprise, I found that pecans were actually quite good.
Then along came mini pecan tarts. (They are lovingly called “Tassies.”) Now I find that it’s incredibly hard for me to only eat one or two.
There are 16 tarts on the tray – each tart is 2” wide. The crust is good but a little on the plain side. The crust would be better with a little more butter taste to it. Of course, I liked the small pecan pieces. They are nice and chewy.
The filling is good, but the consistency is like a jam. I missed the homemade texture that has more brown sugar, vanilla, and butter in it.
The Bakery™ Mini Pecan Tarts (IN STORES ONLY) $6.24
BUT when you take a bite of the tart as a whole – the three parts come together and taste good. Believe it or not, I wished it had a few more pecans in it.
When you eat these tarts, they do taste like a few bites from a pecan pie!
See you at Walmart!
