Making the Rope

Keep the ends of the suede together, then string on 6 beads in the order you would like. We love pinks so we started and ended our rainbow with them. Slide them up on the rope.

On each individual end of the suede, string on two more beads. Tie a knot about 1 inch from the end on both ends.

Wrapping the Braid

The braid on the ponytail can allow the beads and wraps to be tightly together or spread out.

If you find it is too long for your hair, you can adjust the length. Just undo the end knots, slide the beads up, cut the length you prefer and retie the ends.

Drape the knot end of the rope over the ponytail just above the ponytail holder. You can tuck the knot inside the holder if you like.

Below the ponytail holder, twist the suede so one side crosses over the other to make an x.

Slide the top bead all the way up until it firmly brings the suede tightly together around the hair. Center the bead in the middle.

Below the ponytail, twist the suede so one side crosses over the other to make an x.

Then lift the suede up on both sides of the ponytail and hold them together just above the ponytail.

Slide the top bead all the way up until it firmly brings the suede tightly together around the hair. Center the bead in the middle.

When you get to the bottom beads you’ll have to lift the hair through the opening in the rope because it gets smaller.

I curled the ends of her hair after it had been braided, because the hair goes in and out of the rope toward the end.

You can leave the beads and wraps close together as you’ve positioned them.

Directions

Cut a piece of the suede 45” long. Fold it in half. At that halfway point tie a knot. (You don’t have to have a knot there. But I use it to keep the beads from sliding off.)

Put the hair in a ponytail using an elastic ponytail holder.

Lift the suede up on both sides of the ponytail and hold them together just above the ponytail.

Drape the ends of the suede down on each side of the ponytail.

Keep repeating the last two steps until all of the beads are in position.

Or you can gently pull them downward so they are more spread out.
